Friday. August 14, 2026

Friday. August 14, 2026. Raymund Kolbe was born in 1894 in Poland. At 12, he had a vision of the Virgin Mary. “That night I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked me if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both.” One year after his vision, Kolbe and his elder brother, Francis, joined the Conventual Franciscans. In 1910, Kolbe was given the religious name Maximilian as a novice. Kolbe earned a doctorate in philosophy and a doctorate in theology. He organized the Militia Immaculata (Army of the Immaculate One). His goal was to work for the conversion of sinners and enemies of the Church, specifically the Freemasons, with the intercession of Mary. In 1918, he was ordained a priest; he took on publishing. He founded a monthly periodical titled “Rycerz Niepokalanej” (Knight of the Immaculate). He also operated a religious publishing press which became a major religious publishing center. Kolbe also founded monasteries in both Japan and India. In 1936, his poor health forced him to return home to Poland, and once the WWII invasion by Germany began, he was the only brother to remain in the monastery. He opened up a temporary hospital to aid those in need, providing shelter for refugees – including hiding 2,000 Jews from German persecution. He continued his religious publishing and issued many anti-Nazi German publications. In 1941, the monastery was shut down; he was arrested and taken to prison. Never abandoning his priesthood, he was the victim to severe violence and harassment. Men were chosen to face death by starvation to warn against escapes; he was not chosen but volunteered to take the place of a man with a family. He led prayers to Our Lady with the prisoners and remained calm. After two weeks of dehydration and starvation, he was given a lethal injection of carbolic acid. He raised his left arm and calmly awaited death. Recognized as the Servant of God, Kolbe was beatified as a “Confessor of the Faith” and later declared a martyr. Saint Maximilian Kolbe strove to live a life of mercy, remembered as a “martyr of charity.” (Maridol: My Morning Prayer)

O Lord Jesus Christ who said, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” through the intercession of St. Maximilian Kolbe, whose life illustrated such love, we beseech You to grant us our petitions – help us to parent our children with a gentle heart as You did. Show us how to raise our children in faith and bring our families into the Light of Jesus. We place our petitions in your hands and ask that you lay them before your daughter, Blessed Mother Mary, and her child Jesus. Seek this, our favor. “Ester, and I thank you for your blessings and grace for our children to support the MONTINOLA-CUMAGUN CARE FOUNDATION’S FOUR LEGS of PURPOSE: (1.) Special Children SPED; a child’s mind is the most precious thing to waste. (The motto of the American Negro College), and the Handicapped Senior Citizens – Physical Therapy. (2.) Financial Support for Diocesan priests and Grade School Teachers for the rural areas. (3.) Computer Start-up Education Tools for selected public schools. “… expose and acclimate the youth to Information Technology—the age of computers. The children of Negros Occidental must be computer literate to better their lives for the future and help our country progress to a global economy. Estonia and Finland, two countries smaller than ours, have put into their laws that Access to the Internet is a right of all citizens, similar to access to water and electricity.” [Negros Economic Development Foundation 40th Charter Foundation Day, Antonio G. Cumagun, Guest Speaker, Bacolod City, July 24, 2010] and (4.) Selected Start-up Management and Financial Support for Small Business. ” … From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Luke 12:48. The sin of the rich man was not that he did wrong things, but that he did nothing.  (A.G.C. Autobiography Song of Myself Memoirs, Looking Back at Serendipity, 2002). Guide the family to make the Vision and Mission of the Montinola Cumagun Care Foundation Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam – for the greater glory of God. Our Father, Hail Mary, & Glory be. Saint Kolbe, pray for Us.

WORD Today. Matthew19:3-12. Some Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?” He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” They said to him, “Then why did Moses command that the man give the woman a bill of divorce and dismiss her?” He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery.” His disciples said to him, “If that is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” He answered, “Not all can accept this word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.”

Reflection. The words of the Popes. God makes of the two spouses one single life. The Bible uses a powerful expression and says “one flesh;” so intimate is the union between man and woman in marriage. And this is precisely the mystery of marriage: the love of God which is reflected in the couple that decides to live together. Therefore, a man leaves his home, the home of his parents, and goes to live with his wife and unites himself so strongly to her that the two become – the Bible says— one flesh. When the husband prays for his wife and the wife prays for her husband, that bond becomes strong; one praying for the other. And many times the husband and wife become a little fractious and argue between themselves. Yet we must not become saddened by this; this is the human condition. The secret is that love is stronger than the moment when there is arguing; do not let a day end without making peace. Always! (Pope Francis, General Audience, 2 April 2014)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, to Your most Sacred Heart I confide this intention {name petition}.

Only look upon me, then do what Your love inspires. Let Your Sacred Heart decide. I count on You. I trust in You. I throw myself on Your mercy. Lord Jesus, You will not fail me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your love for me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your kingdom come. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked You for many favors, but I earnestly implore this one. Take it, place it in Your open Heart. When the Eternal Father looks upon it, He will see it covered with Your Precious Blood. It will be no longer my prayer, but Yours, Jesus. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You. Amen.

Assumption Novena – Day 9. Lord Jesus Christ, You have destroyed the power of death and given the hope of eternal life. As we rejoice in the Assumption of Blessed Mother Mary, give to us a renewed confidence in the victory of the Montinola Cumagun Care Foundation with your powerful intercession. Help us and present to Jesus our request.

Lord Jesus Christ, You have destroyed the power of death and given the hope of eternal life in body and soul. You granted your Mother a special place in your glory, and did not allow decay to touch her body. As we rejoice in the Assumption of Mary, give to us a renewed confidence in the victory of life over death. You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

O Blessed Mother Assumed into Heaven, after years of heroic martyrdom on earth, we rejoice that you have at last been taken to the throne prepared for you in Heaven by the Holy Trinity. Lift our hearts with you in the glory of your Assumption above the dreadful touch of sin and impurity. Teach us how small earth becomes when viewed from heaven. Make us realize that death is the triumphant gate through which we shall pass to your Son and that someday our bodies shall rejoin our souls in the unending bliss of heaven. From this earth, over which we tread as pilgrims, we look to you for help. In honor of your Assumption into Heaven, we ask for this favor. When our hour of death has come, lead us to Jesus to enjoy the vision of God for all eternity with you. Pray for us, O Queen Assumed into Heaven, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
